David Pearce is the co-founder of the World Transhumanist Association which was rebranded and incorporated as Humanity+. He also has a series of websites (BLTC Research) which revolve around transhumanist topics and “hedonistic imperative” (moral obligation of eliminating suffering in life, both human and non-human organisms).
He is a fellow of Ethics And Emerging Technologies and sits on the futurist advisory board of Lifeboat Foundation. He is also an important figure within the transhumanist movement.
In 1995, he published a manifesto on the internet, called Hedonistic Imperative which outlined how pharmacology, genetic engineering, nanotechnology and neurosurgery can be used together to eliminate suffering. He called it the “abolitionist project”. He also founded BTLC Research (network of sites) in the same year.
